Welcome to the OECTA Occasional Teachers Benefits Plan

IMPORTANT: Only Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) occasional teachers are eligible for this plan.


Here is some information about this plan:

  • Participation in the plan is mandatory for OECTA TCDSB occasional teachers (OT) who:
    • Are on the school board occasional teachers roster, and
    • Have worked a minimum of 50 full days in the prior school year
  • The benefit year runs from September 1 to August 31.
  • Your premiums will be paid by the TCDSB.

This plan is administered by OTIP.

 

Who is eligible

 

Eligibility for the OECTA OT Benefits Plan is based on the number of days of occasional teacher work you completed for by the TCDSB during the previous school year.

The TCDSB provides a list of all eligible teachers to OTIP in July.

If you are eligible, you will receive an email invitation from OTIP in August/September.

 

How to participate

 

Once you complete your enrolment:

  • Your coverage is retroactive to September 1.
  • Eligible claims incurred on or after September 1 can be submitted online starting on September 1.
  • A new benefits card will be mailed to you.

NOTE: You cannot make changes to your coverage after the enrolment period even with a life event (e.g. marriage, common-law, divorce, birth of a child, adoption).


 

Obtaining an eligible LTO at the start or during the school year

 

If you obtain an eligible LTO position/contract, you will receive an email to enrol for coverage under the OECTA Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT) Benefits Plan.
