OTIP Bursary Programs Rules and Regulations

  1. Thirty (30) bursaries of $1,500 each are available to be won. 

  1. Enter the OTIP Bursary Program (the “Bursary Program”) at www.otip.com/why-otip/community-investment/bursaries  between 12:01 a.m. EST on September 30, 2024, and 11:59:59 p.m. EST on June 1, 2025, (the “Bursary Program closing date”) for a chance to win a bursary. 

  1. Only one entry per person will be accepted.The person named on the entry must be the recipient of the bursary, if won. Multiple entries under this rule will be considered duplicate entries, and only one entry will qualify for the draw. 

  1. Entrants must be a legal resident of Canada (excluding Quebec) who are enrolled in a post-secondary (college, university, skilled trades, or technologyprogram on a full-time or part-time basis for the 2025 to 2026 academic year to be eligible to win a bursary. 

  1. The entrant, or at least one (1) parent/grandparent/guardian/trustee or custodian of the entrant, must be insured through an individual or group policy of an insurance plan or program offered by OTIP. 

  1. Children, relatives, dependants or household members of OTIP employees, directors, trustees or any of its subsidiaries[1] are not eligible to enter. 

  1. Entrants are only eligible to receive one bursary throughout the lifetime of the Bursary Program. 

  1. Entrants must enter their contact information, being their first and last name, phone number (residential or cell phone), email and address, as well as answer a mathematical skill testing question correctly (“Mandatory Information”), before they can be entered into the Bursary Program and eligible to win a bursary. Failing to complete the Mandatory Information means the entrant will not be entered into the Bursary Program to win a bursary. 

  1. A total of thirty (30) separate and random draws will be made on or about June 30, 2025, for the bursaries from all eligible entries submitted online by the Bursary Program closing date. Each separate and random draw will take place in Waterloo, Ontario. 

  1. The selected winners will be notified by phone and/or email using the information entered in the Bursary Program website. 

  1. Before being declared a winner of a bursary, selected winners will be required to: 

    • Submit an official statement from their academic institution confirming enrolment on a full-or part-time basis for the upcoming school year.    

    • Sign a Recipient Release and Consent to Publicity Form (“Release and Consent Form”). 

  1. By signing the Release and Consent Form, the selected winner agrees to have their name, their program or degree enrolled in, the city where residing and photo posted on the OTIP website and any related social media platforms. The winner also agrees to give OTIP permission to use this information along with their image, audio and/or a video/testimonial, comments and/or photograph for general publicity purposes for a period of up to two years without further consent or compensation, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media and social media, including, but not limited to, the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, SnapChat and OTIP’s website, and in any publicity or advertising carried out by OTIP in the promotion of, and in any matters related to, OTIP and the Bursary Program. 

  1. If the selected winner is not at least 18 years of age as of the date of winning, they must have their legal parent, guardian, trustee or custodian, and/or legal advisor review and explain the terms of the Release and Consent Form to them before signing it. The selected winner’s parent, legal guardian, trustee or custodian must date and sign the last page of the Release and Consent Form, under the section, “For Bursary Recipient Under the Legal Age of 18”, in front of a witness. 

  1. Should any of the selected winners not provide an official statement from their academic institution confirming enrolment, not correctly answer the skill-testing question, not return the completed and signed and witnessed Release and Consent Form within fourteen calendar days from the date sent to the selected winner and/or if the selected winner has previously received an OTIP bursary, they will be deemed ineligible to receive the bursary. Should any of these events occur, another randomly selected winner will be chosen. This process will continue until 30 winners are declared. 

  1. Official statements from academic institutions are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, incomplete, mechanically reproduced, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way. 

  1. Only the eligible winners of a bursary will be notified by OTIP. 

  1. Awards will be made by cheque in Canadian funds payable to the winner. 

  1. A list of the bursary winners will be posted at www.otip.com before the end of August 2025. 

  1. The odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received by the Bursary Program closing date. 

  1. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to notify OTIP in writing if the entrant changes his or her mailing address and/or contact information if the entrant still wishes to be included in the number of eligible entries in the Bursary Program. Entrants are to send changes of contact information to the OTIP address at the end of these rules. 

  1. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, incomplete, mechanically reproduced, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way. 

  1. Any and all taxes on any bursary awarded, including but not limited to, income taxes, and any incidental expenses associated with collection of the bursary, are the sole responsibility of the bursary winner. No substitutions will be made for the bursary except at the discretion of OTIP. All fees, including but not limited to, Internet fees, transactional fees, down-loading fees, up-loading fees, accessories, application fees, Wi-Fi costs, roaming charges, costs of programs, long distance charges, associated with entering the Bursary Program and completing the requirements to win the bursary are at the sole cost of the entrant and are not the responsibility of OTIP. 

  1. All entries become the property of OTIP upon receipt and will not be returned. By entering the Bursary Program, entrants agree to the use of their personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy regulating OTIP at www.otip.com/privacy. 

  1. OTIP is not responsible for any entries that are lost, late, damaged, destroyed, misdirected or delayed by any computer or technical malfunctions that may occur in the processing, transmission or receipt of entries. 

  1. OTIP shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Bursary Program. 

  1. By participating in the Bursary Program, all entrants agree to be bound by these rules and regulations and declare that the information they provide to support their entry is true and correct. 

  1. The random draw for winners will be conducted by an independent team comprised of OTIP staff members not related to eligible entrants (the “Bursary Program Committee”). 

  1. All decisions of the Bursary Program Committee are final and binding on the entrants in all matters relating to the Bursary Program, the eligibility requirements and the program's selection process. 

  1. OTIP reserves the right to administer the Bursary Program as required, including the right to withdraw, terminate, suspend, cancel or modify all or part of the Bursary Program including the eligibility requirements at any time and without notice for any reason whatsoever or if it determines that for any reason the Bursary Program cannot be run as originally planned, including, but not limited to, technical failure or corruption, computer virus, bugs, computer, electronic or system malfunction, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other factor(s) or cause(s) beyond OTIP’s control which in OTIP’s opinion compromises the fairness or integrity of the Bursary Program and/or affects the administration, security, or proper conduct of this Bursary Program as contemplated by these official rules. 

  1. OTIP is not responsible for any theft, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; failures or malfunctions of electronic data transmission, telephones, telephone lines or telephone systems, interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections, any error, omission, interruption, defect or delay in any transmission or communication; traffic congestion on the Internet or for any technical problem, including but not limited to any injury or damage to the entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in this Bursary Program; the cancellation, suspension or pre-emption of games, injuries or timing errors, electronic or equipment failure or other communication problems occurring in connection with participation in this Bursary Program nor is it responsible for any transmission of viruses from any OTIP website to a computer system or if any whole entry system crashes resulting in the Bursary Program being cancelled or other problems or errors of any kind whether mechanical, human, electronic or otherwise. 

  1. If, as a result of an error relating to the entry process, entry, entry count, drawing or any other aspect of the Bursary Program, there are more winners drawn than contemplated in these rules, there will be a random draw amongst all eligible bursary claimants after the Bursary Program closing date to award the applicable bursaries. 

  1. OTIP, the Bursary Program Committee, and any of their parents, affiliates, agents, and contractors, including advertising, sponsoring and promotional agencies, and their directors, trustees, officers and employees expressly disclaim and shall be held free of all responsibility or liability for any loss or damage in respect to the Bursary howsoever caused by, any act, error, omission, injury, loss, accident, delay or the neglect or default of any company or person providing any service for the Bursary Program, whether through providers negligence or otherwise, or due to cancellations, adverse weather conditions, loss of personal belongings, illness, bodily injury, accident, death, deterioration of services, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, disappointment or frustration, either mental or physical due to any Acts of God, force majeure or third party wrong doing, epidemic, social or political disturbances or due to any cause whatsoever occurring during the Bursary Program and the use of the bursary by the recipient.

  1. Caution: Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage OTIP’s website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Bursary Program is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, OTIP reserves the right to seek damages from any such entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law.
