OTIP celebrates World Teachers' Day
“One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world.” – Malala Yousafzai
Did you know that October 5 is World Teachers’ Day?
On this day, UNESCO invites us to “celebrate how teachers are transforming education but also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation, and to rethink the way ahead for the profession globally.”1
The theme for this year’s World Teachers’ Day, created by UNESCO and their supporting partners, is "Valuing teacher voices: towards a new social contract for education." As systemic challenges arise within education, it’s crucial that educators’ voices are heard in the decision-making processes that affect their profession, and that their input and expertise is valued.
At OTIP, we are amazed (but not surprised) by the hundreds of nominations we receive every year for dedicated, passionate members of the education community from across Ontario for the OTIP Teaching Awards and Education Worker Awards. Read more about our incredible 2024 winners!
Every day, and especially on World Teachers’ Day, we say THANK YOU!
