Your health is a priority: Stop avoiding it.

Why do so many of us avoid our health, even when we think we need care?

You may have your reasons; family or work priorities, not enough time, perhaps even stigma around accessing the help you need. It's understandable to want to keep going and push through until you feel better. But if you don’t make time for your health, you may be forced to make time for your illness.

It is your responsibility to be as healthy as you can, so that you can be the best version of yourself. Fortunately, your group benefits plan provides you with coverage to ensure you get the best medically necessary care for your health.

This may include extended health care, dental care, or different types of health-care services, such as physiotherapy, counselling, and others.

But what does healthy look like and how can you make it a priority?

The World Health Organization defines health as a “state of complete physical, mental and social well-being” and not merely the absence of disease or illness. This means that your health and overall well-being is about more than just not being sick. It’s about how well you feel physically, mentally, socially and more.

To feel healthy, you need to prioritize your health.

Prioritizing your health can go a long way towards ensuring your best quality of life. A life where you have the energy to focus on your work, your relationships and yourself.

To support and protect your health and mental wellness throughout the year, OTIP offers wellness programs to all plan members who have coverage, insurance products and/or services with us.

It is important that you consult your health-care provider if you have concerns about your health, or before you start a wellness program.

If you have any questions about your benefits coverage, or to review your benefits booklet to see what resources and services are available to you through your group benefits plan, view your benefits booklet on the OTIP plan member site.
